Stir-fried Taucu Fish








Stir~fried Taucu Japanese Egg Tofu spread on fried black promfret.









Here's the recipe :-




Ingredients:-
3 medium size black promfret
4 sticks of Japanese tofu (cut to pieces)
1 big onion
1 tbsp of taucu (preserved baked beans)
shredded ginger
some chopped small onions & garlic
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp light soya sauce
1 tsp caramel black sauce
some spring onions for garnishing
some pepper powder
cornstarch for thickening
oil for deep- frying



Method :-
1)  Season the fish with salt and pepper as usual for about 1/2 an hour. Set aside.
2)  Heat a wok with oil, deep-fry the tofu till golden brown on both sides. Drain well and set aside.
3)   Fry the seasoned fish till cooked on both sides also. Set on a platter.
4)  For the gravy :-
Heat up wok, add in a little oil, saute the ginger, big onion and the chopped small onion & garlic till aromatic.
5)  Scoop in the taucu and continue frying, then pour in 1/2 a bowl of water.
6)   Add in sugar, light soya sauce, caramel black sauce and a little salt & pepper powder to taste.
7)  Give it a stir and thicken with cornstarch.
8)   Now, pour in the fried tofu and mix well, off the heat.
9)  Spread the tofu mixture over the fried fish, garnish with spring onions and serve whilst hot.
  

* For this dish, if u like spicy, add some big /small chillies to the gravy.
