Cantonese Sweet And Sour Pork
One of the most popular cuisine in Chinese restaurants, "Cantonese Sweet And Sour Pork". Using fresh pineapples and red Capsicum for additional colour and flavour. Ideal for your kids!
Here's the recipe,
Ingredients:-
600 gm Pork or spare-ribs ( cut into small pieces)
1/2 tbsp 5-spice powder
*To marinate pork
1 tbsp light soya sauce
salt, a dash of pepper
flour + cornflour (for blending)
1/2 red capsicum (wedges)
1 tomato (wedges)
1 big red chilly (sliced)
pineapples (slices)
1 big onion
1/2 Japanese cucumber
chopped small onions & garlic
4 tbsp Maggi Chilly sauce
3 tbsp Maggi Tomato sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp sugar (or more, if you like sweeter gravy)
salt & pepper & msg (opt)
cornstarch for thickening
Method :-
1) Marinate the pork for 1 hour, then rub in the flour mixture. Heat up oil, deep-fry till light golden brown, set aside.
2) Saute the big onions, chopped small onions n garlic till aroma, add in the big chilly, red capsicum and cucumber. Fry for a while, pour in the tomato and chilly sauce, while stirring, drizzle the vinegar and a little water.
3) Slowly sprinkle the sugar, salt, pepper and msg to taste. Tomatoes also added to this stage and simmered for a while. Circled around with the cornstarch for thickening.
4) Immediately pour in the fried pork and mix thoroughly. Dish out and do your garnishing.
5) Served hot.
