3-Strands Braided Cheese Bread
Simple and easy direct method recipe for all new beginners.
If you have never make any bread at home before, this is the best recipe for you. A very direct method of bread-making for beginners, No dough starters needed for this recipe and it delivers a very delicious flavour and soft texture.
You will definitely appreciate this recipe and love it.
1) One thing you need to remember before baking is to preheat your oven to 165०c for at least 15mins.
2) I used baking paper on my baking tray and no need to grease them anymore.
3) This bread dough is so versatile, you can make so many types of bread with it.
4) I made two 3-strands braided bread out of this recipe dough. To further enchanced the flavour, added grated cheddar cheese and castor sugar for topping. The brand of cheddar cheese i usually used is KRAFT or BEGA
Ingredients:-
500gm Bread flour
70gm Castor sugar
1 1/2 tsp Instant yeast
1 tsp Sea salt
70gm Milk
200gm Water
70gm Softened butter
1 Egg
For topping:-
Some grated Cheddar cheese
Some castor sugar
Method:-
1) In the mixer bowl, mix bread flour, sugar, sea salt, instant yeast, then combine well.
2) Pour in the water, milk and egg.
3) Knead on a slow speed to incorporate well.
4) Then increase speed to knead the dough until smooth.
5) Toss in the softened butter piece by piece. Knead the dough until window pane stage.
6) Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it sit for an hour.
7) After an hour, turn out the dough on table top. Divide into 2 portions.
8) Take one portions and divide again into 3 equals parts. Repeat with the other portion too.
9) Roll each part into a long plait, then gather 3 plaits and braid it into a 3-stranded braided dough.
10) Lift the braided dough and place on a lined baking tray.
11) Cover with a piece of cloth, proof for an hour.
12) Egg wash, sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and drizzle some castor sugar on the surface.
13) Bake at 165०c for 30mins until golden brown.
14) Remove and cool on wire rack.
